During a press conference in Broomall on Thursday, officials reminded drivers of the dangers of drinking and driving. PennDOT and police are telling everyone to plan ahead if there will be drinking, and to figure out how everyone is returning home before drinking starts. Officials suggest arranging for a designated driver or using a rideshare service.
“PennDOT urges everyone to have a plan for this St. Patrick’s Day,” said Krys Johnson, PennDOT Safety Press Officer. “There’s nothing wrong with celebrating, we hope you have a great time. There’s simply no excuse to get behind the wheel if you’re impaired.”
PennDOT also says that walking impaired can be dangerous, so it recommends designating a sober friend to get home safely.
