Mt. Hood Meadows prepares for crowds as weekend forecast calls for heavy snow

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Mt. Hood Meadows is urging skiers and snowboarders to be prepared before they come up this weekend due to heavy snow in the forecast.

This storm is proving to be even bigger than initially thought. But for skiers and snowboarders, that means fresh powder on the mountain.

Madalyne Staab with Mt. Hood Meadows said they’re expecting crowds this weekend. However, she said people should make sure they’re informed before making the trip.

“Check ODOT, TripCheck, you know, get a good idea of what the conditions are looking like. They will say, you know, what you need to bring. We always recommend, you know, good traction tires and chains if you don’t have them,” Staab said.

There are public transportation options from Hood River and even Portland for people who are worried about driving, Staab said.
