Salem man dies from injuries sustained in car crash in Baxter County last month


A Salem man has died from injuries sustained in a car crash in Baxter County last month. The accident has claimed the life of 47-year-old Benny W. Monk.
The Arkansas State Police released the fatal crash summary late Tuesday evening.




According to the accident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s office, Monk was traveling on Hand Cove Road. His vehicle reportedly traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a sign and a tree on the front driver’s side. There were no signs of braking or actions to avoid the impact.

According to the responding deputy, it is unclear when the crash occurred. An unknown subject told authorities his daughter drove by the morning of Feb. 27 spotted the vehicle. Monk was not able to give any type of account.

Monk was taken to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield where he later died from his injuries.
