“I love the snow, but that warm weather just got us all thinking, ‘oh, winter is over we won’t have to deal with anymore.’ And then all of a sudden this,” resident Rod Rutledge said.
Rutledge has been living in Oakhurst for 25 years and says this is a bit unusual for this time of year.
“It’s been so warm here lately. It just kind of took everyone off guard,” Rutledge said.
He says the area saw heavy snowfall Thursday morning.
“You could not see the post office from right here. It was so, coming down so hard and the flakes were just huge,” Rutledge said.
Visitors in the area are enjoying their time in the snow. Gabriella Campos and her family are traveling from Brazil and never saw snow until now.
“The first time I am seeing this cold place and touching the snow, so it’s really wonderful,” Campos said.
She says this weather is very different than at home and embraced the snowy experience.
“I have to put a lot of clothes, so it’s really different because in Brazil it’s really hot sometimes. So yeah, I think it’s a new experience and I am loving it,” Campos said.
