The Chicago Tribune reports that it happened during Saturday’s Disturbed concert. The heavy metal band was formed in Chicago in 1994.
The Tribune reported that after the show was over, it was discovered that fabric showed heat damage that warped the bottom halves.
The United Center said the banners sustained minor damage in the following statement.
“Following Saturday night’s concert, United Center staff discovered minor damage to the Bulls championship banners that hang in the rafters. United Center is currently working with the Bulls to explore options to repair these banners, however, we don’t anticipate them being back in place for the remainder of this season. We anticipate them being back in place next season.”
Other banners nearby, which showcase division and conference championships, were not damaged and remain up in the rafters.
Blackhawks banners were not affected.
The Bulls head out on a road trip and return back to the UC on March 27 against the Lakers.
WGN News reached out to representation for the band for comment.
