NEW ORLEANS (
WGNO) — Happy St. Patrick’s Day weekend…and happy St. Joseph’s Day, as well as weather permitting:
Super Sunday! It’s a busy time in the Crescent City, filled with parades, altars, and green beer. But this weekend also features legendary live music, a home show, and a Francophile film festival…here are Where Y’at’s picks!
- First, starting Thursday, March 13, the New Orleans French Film Festival is calling all cinephiles to the Prytania Theater Uptown. This year’s festival features modern and traditional French cinema with famous plus independent movies, as well as films made right here in Louisiana.
- The NOLA Funk Festival isn’t until October, but Friday night, March 14 at Tipitina’s features a line-up reveal show for this year’s Festival. This unforgettable concert will feature a huge roster of musicians, including Jon Cleary, George Porter Jr., and many more, all celebrating the announcement of this year’s Funk Fest’s lineup.
- Next, if you’re looking to renovate, the 35th Spring Pontchartrain Home Show is back at the Ponchartrain Center with remodeling ideas for the entire house. And if you get hungry while manifesting your dream home, the Certified Louisiana Food Festival takes place at the same time, offering tasty samples and cooking demos.
- Finally celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Monday, March 17 at The Channel’s and Parasol’s Irish Channel block party. There’ll be non-stop entertainment, specials on green beer, and more. Put on a St. Patrick’s outfit to compete in The Channel’s costume contest for your chance to win $500.
