Two north Louisiana events make list of must-visit festivals

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Explore Louisiana says nine festivals across the state are must-see events, two of which are in the ArkLaTex.

The festivals on the list are described as fabulous experiences that highlight what Louisiana does best: food, music, and a “rollicking” good time.

The Red River Revel is the largest outdoor arts festival in North Louisiana and is ranked fifth on the list. Visitors will find great food, and visual works of art that you can hang on a wall or wear. With multiple stages, live music greets festival-goers as they enter Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport.

The Revel is a family-friendly event featuring a children’s area where kids can create works of art, make new friends in a Nerf battle maze, and visit a geological dig site.

Past performers have included world-renowned artists like New Orleans natives Big Freedia and Dee-1 to local notables DJ Hotboy Yoshi and Q Major The Violinist.

Rounding out the list at number nine is the Natchitoches Christmas Festival. The historic city transforms into a dazzling holiday adorned with more than 300,000 Christmas lights, bringing the season’s magic to life. For a bit of romance, there are carriage rides, or you can enjoy fireworks over the Cane River Lake.
