Officers with the Greenwood Police Department were called around 4:15 p.m. to a Chase Bank located at 1225 S. Park Drive after receiving reports of a robbery taking place at the business. GPD said the suspect robbed a technician while he was filling an ATM machine at the bank.
GPD confirmed a short vehicle pursuit occurred between the suspect and officers shortly after authorities arrived on the scene. The pursuit continued until the vehicle crashed near E. Broadway Street and Water Street. GPD said the suspect then exited the vehicle and continued fleeing on foot to a neighborhood in the area.
Law enforcement immediately established a perimeter around the Northern Park neighborhood where officers searched vehicles, backyards and buildings for roughly three hours. As of this article’s publication, police have not detained the suspect.
K9 units, officers with the Whiteland Police Department and Indiana State Police also assisted at the scene. An ISP helicopter was also utilized to search for the suspect.
