(WJW) – An Ohio company is recalling 15,000 cases of oyster crackers that might be contaminated by metal.
Shearer’s Foods, headquartered in Massillon, issued a voluntary recall for the crackers sold across the U.S. under store labels at Target, Walmart and Giant Eagle in February.
The crackers may be contaminated with stainless steel wire, which led the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to issue a Class II level classification.
A Level II means exposure “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” according to the FDA.
In addition to Ohio, the crackers were distributed to stores in Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
