LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A 76-year-old Lafayette man has been arrested and charged after being accused of molesting an 8-year-old child back in 1988.

Lynn Hall mugshot

Lynn Hall was arrested over the weekend by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office and booked into jail on three counts of felony child molesting. The charges stem from allegations made by a woman who said Hall touched her when he was 35 and she was 8.

Lafayette police received the allegations in late July 2024 and began investigating. Evidence gathered by officers determined that, between 1988 and 1993, Hall molested the victim who was between ages 8 and 13. Hall was reportedly between the ages of 35 and 45.

An arrest warrant was issued for Hall as a result of the investigation, charging him with various levels of felony child molestation.

On early Saturday morning, local sheriff’s deputies arrested the 76-year-old without incident at his home in Tippecanoe County. He is now being held on a $50,000 cash bond.

A jury trial in Hall’s case is now scheduled to begin on June 6, 2025, in Tippecanoe Superior Court 1. Judge Randy J. Williams is scheduled to oversee the trial.

No further details were immediately provided by police. Final charging decisions were made by the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office, who LPD thanked in a press release announcing the arrest.
