INDIANAPOLIS – Criminal charges were filed this week against an Indianapolis man accused of repeatedly robbing the same business inside the Fashion Mall at Keystone.

Prosecutors claim the suspect targeted the same store three times in the last 16 months.

Walking into the Sunglass Hut inside the mall, police claim 62-year-old Willie King stuffed $10,000 of Versace and Prada sunglasses into a bag. Court documents claim King threatened an employee by saying, “I should kill you for sending me to jail.”

At the time he allegedly walked away from the mall with the stolen sunglasses, King was on probation after being convicted of robbing the same business twice in November 2023.

“We need to need these people to be held accountable for their actions.” said IMPD officer Tommy Thompson. “It’s not right that they do this within our community.”

IMPD officials insist that getting repeat offenders like King off the streets makes the city safer and remains a priority for their department.

“IMPD detectives continue to work tirelessly and remain laser-focused on finding these repeat offenders and holding them accountable,” said Thompson.

Affidavits from 2023 show King became so familiar with the Sunglass Hut employees that he asked, “Don’t you remember me?” while stealing thousands of dollars in sunglasses.

Court records show King pled guilty to those crimes and was released from jail after being sentenced to home detention. However, during his release, he is accused of repeatedly violating his probation – including robbing the Sunglass Hut a third time – before his probation was revoked and he was sent back to the Department of Corrections.

Department of Corrections officials confirmed that King has been moved to Putnamville Correctional Facility. He is set to be released in May, after which he’ll be brought back to Marion County on a warrant and given a bond of $120,000.
