Superintendent Ketti Davis was released from her contract.
The change came as a surprise to many, as Davis was just at the district’s board meeting Tuesday night.
Then, as of 6 a.m. Wednesday, she was out without explanation to the public.
She’s not the only one the district has mysteriously dismissed.
In 2018, Mark Sutton was voted out during a board meeting, despite parents protesting the decision.
When reporters asked why Sutton was removed, board members refused to answer.
He was replaced by Andrew Alvarado, who served for three years until he was arrested for domestic violence.
That is when the board brought in Ketti Davis.
She was hired in 2022 and performed superintendent duties as recently as Tuesday night when she attended the school board meeting.
Then, at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Yourcentralvalley.com got an email from the district saying in part, “The Board is pleased that an amicable separation agreement has been reached with the superintendent, and which honors the terms of the employment agreement while providing the District with the ability to move forward.”
There are still questions surrounding what it looks like for the district to “move forward,” though.
When asked, district representatives would not explain the reason for Davis’ departure.
They will soon hold a special session to decide who the interim superintendent will be.
In the meantime, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services Dr. Tami Boatright will serve as the Administrator in Charge.
