While on her way to a Financial Literacy World Tour, Blonka Mack remembers how much our late co-worker did to help her program.
Deane had featured Mack on New with a Twist several years ago. An experience she says was “pivotal to her program ‘s success.”
“Mark Deane was one of those those people who was gone too soon. I couldn’t have accomplished this within this time frame. In which you see now, the Blonka Movement for was a staple for so many things financial literacy, economic advancement, generational wealth, all because of the stories that Mark Deane covered, right, in the birth of it, in New Orleans,” said Mack.
Back in February, the intersection of Rosemont Place and Prentiss Avenue in New Orleans East was renamed for her contributions to children’s education.
Deane was tragically killed in a crash on the Crescent City Connection in August 2024.
