Ionescu was the 2020 No. 1 overall pick, all-time NCAA triple-double leader, 3-time WNBA all star, and set the WNBA single-season 3-point record in 2023.
Ionescu said she’s looking forward to her return to the PNW and “I’ve got some great things in store throughout the weekend for my teammates: past and present, Oregon women’s basketball fans, the Eugene community, and the SI20 Foundation. Sco Ducks Forever!”
She will be joined by another former Duck and teammate Nyara Sabally who was selected fifth overall by New York in the 2022 WNBA draft. She also expressed her excitement and added “I never thought I was going to be able to play on that court and in front of our amazing Duck fans again. I know Oregon is going to show out and it’s going to be an amazing atmosphere!”
In 2024, Ionescu and Sabally led the Liberty to their first WNBA championship.
The exhibition is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
