According to a release from KSP, troopers attempted a traffic stop near the 42-mile marker on I-24 when the suspect, 21-year-old Jermaine Jackson Jr. of Florissant, Missouri, allegedly fled.
We’re told the suspect was involved in a collision near the 65-mile marker and fled from police on foot.
During the foot pursuit, authorities say the suspect began shooting at police, injuring a Trigg County deputy. They say three other deputies fired back at the suspect.
KSP says the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene and the injured deputy was taken to a medical facility, where he is in stable condition.
The identity of the suspect has yet to be identified.
This is an ongoing investigation.
