Local woman owned jewelry business ‘EKT Designs’ puts Philly flare into trendy looks

National Jewelry Day is on Thursday, March 13th and it’s also Women’s History Month. We wanted to highlight one local, woman owned jewelry business called EKT Designs, owned by Elizabeth Thomas. She and her daughter Whitney joined us in the PHL17 studio to talk to us about her business, style and how we can place our orders.

“I am an artist, and an art teacher, and I’ve been doing ceramics and jewelry for a while now. When the Eagles were leading up to the Super Bowl, I started making these really fun chunky chains and the one that really became very popular was the ‘Go Birds’ chain,” says Thomas.

“The women owned businesses; I think the support has been so amazing, I wasn’t really sure how this was going to get going and I have just been helped out so much by women and especially women business owners, it’s been mind-blowing,” says Thomas.
