Lafayette neighborhood suspicious device cleared; suspect in custody

UPDATE 3/11/25 6:57 p.m.: According to Lafayette Police Sergeant Robin Green the scene has been cleared out at the 200 block of Ridgewood Drive and a dummy device has been found.

Officials said a person of interest is currently in custody. The investigation is still ongoing.

ORIGINAL STORY: LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The 200 block of Ridgewood Drive is being blocked off due to a suspicious device, authorities said.

Lafayette Police Department said they are currently at the scene awaiting for assistance regarding the device.

The area is being secured. Residents and motorists are asked to stay away from the 200 block of Ridgewood Drive and seek alternate routes until the investigation is complete.
