By rssfeeds-admin SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTVO) — Illinois legislators have advanced a bill that would ensure sexual assault victims are not charged a co-pay for forensic medical examinations.
House Bill 2805 passed the Illinois House Insurance Committee on Tuesday.
Although the Illinois Sexual Assault Survivor Treatment Act prohibits sexual assault survivors from being charged for forensic medical exams, House Minority Leader Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) said there is nothing in the law that does not prohibit insurance companies from charging a deductible or insurance co-pay for the services.
“This will make sure that victims are not victimized on any level,” McCombie
said.
