According to court documents filed earlier this month in Johnson County, Brandon Abbott has been charged with two counts of child molesting, each a Level 1 felony.
On July 17, 2024, a female relative of the victim, along with the victim, came to the Franklin Police Department. The documents said that the relative was reportedly sexually abused by a man, later identified as Abbott, but came to the department after she learned a younger relative was also reportedly molested by Abbott.
In an interview with police, the victim reportedly told detectives about several sexual acts that Abbott did to her when she was between the ages of 3 and 8. The documents provided details on several of the incidents, including claims of Abbott touching the girl inappropriately multiple times when she was 5.
The girl told police that the last incident of molestation reportedly occurred when she was 8 and living at her current home. The documents state that during this incident, Abbott reportedly sexually abused the girl.
During an interview with Abbott that day, the documents said that he was asked if he recalled certain allegations the girl brought forward, to which Abbott responded that he did not remember. After continued questioning, Abbott denied the all the allegations.
“(Abbott) did not wish to continue the interview,” the documents said, “stating the allegations were wrong.”
In a follow-up interview, Abbott told police that he had nothing else to provide. When asked if he would take a polygraph, Abbott “advised he would have to talk with his lawyer.”
The court documents state that Abbott’s initial hearing is scheduled for March 27. Court officials received a $10,000 cash bond for Abbott on Tuesday.
