Billy Joel, Sting concert at Rice Eccles Stadium postponed to 2026 due to ‘medical condition’

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Fans who were eager to see Billy Joel and Sting in concert at Rice Eccles Stadium will have to wait another year.

The Piano Man posted to his Instagram account on Tuesday, March 11, that his upcoming concert days would need to be rescheduled due to a “medical condition.”

“While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,” said Joel. “I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.”

Without going into details, Joel announced that the current tour will be postponed for four months to allow for recovery from a recent surgery and to undergo physical therapy under doctor supervision. The announcement said Joel is expected to make a full recovery and resume the tour in Pittsburgh on July 5, 2025.

The new concert schedule pushes back the Rice Eccles Stadium stop to May 22, 2026 – a full year past its original scheduled date. Any ticket already purchased for the concert will be valid for the rescheduled show in 2026.

When Joel takes the stage at Rice Eccles Stadium, it will be the first time since 2017. The artist known for his hits “Uptown Girl,” “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” and “Piano Man,” last played in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Delta Center with a two-hour set capped with “Piano Man” and a five-song encore.
