Summary: Temperatures are warmer than average compared to the normal, however, things are not looking very promising for rain chances even despite a series of cold fronts. Dry air, gusty winds, ongoing drought with dormant grasses will provide fuel for a chance at wildfires. On high alert with elevated to critical fire danger as well as a fire weather watch and red flag warning. Folks, this means that any wildfires that start will be very hard to contain. Make sure to adhere to burn bans and practice fire safety along the way. Gusty winds bringing in gusts over 35 mph could be strong enough to bring blowing dust and meet conditions for a wind advisory. We keep westerly winds with a reinforcing front by Friday that will pull in significant severe winds as well as storm chances (mostly east of I-35). A reinforcing front puts the coolest day of the Saturday. Before we warm right back up by Monday thanks to a warm front with temperatures in the 80’s by Tuesday and a possible front by Wednesday.
Today: Sunny skies, warm temperatures with a light breeze. High Temperature: 86° Winds: SSW 10-15 G 25 MPH
