SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Monday, Utah! It was a chilly but sunny start to our workweek.

High pressure is large and in charge of the region’s weather conditions over the next few days. This means the mostly sunny skies and mild temperatures will stick around through midweek. High temperatures Monday afternoon will climb into the lower 60s for northern Utah and near 70 for southwest Utah.

Tuesday will feature mostly sunny skies across northern Utah with highs warming into the low to mid 60s. Clouds will be on the increase across the south as an upper low passes through Arizona. This could lead to an isolated shower across southern Utah, but most of the moisture with this system will stay to our south.

Clouds will thicken statewide as our next weather maker approaches from the west. Ahead of this system, winds will become quite gusty out of the southwest leading to some wind gusts in the 40-55 mph range in the West Desert and Tooele and Rush Valley. Elsewhere, winds will likely gust between 20-35 mph. A few showers will likely develop over southwest Utah Wednesday afternoon, but we should mostly remain dry along the Wasatch Front.

The trough moves through the Beehive state on Thursday, bringing valley rain and mountain snow to begin with, but temperatures and snow levels will be dropping in this trough, which means by Thursday evening into Thursday night, valley rain will change over to snow with some possible valley accumulations possible. The mountains look to get another juicy system, with more impressive snow totals expected.

The pattern stays active into the weekend with another chance for rain and snow on Saturday across northern Utah, and another statewide storm possible by the beginning of next week.
