On March 10, around 8 p.m., officers were called to the 3500 block of Elm Street for an armed man. A Metro Security employee for the apartment complex told authorities he saw a firearm by way of a video call between a tenant and the suspect.
Officials went to the tenant’s apartment and asked if they could check if there was a gun in the residence. The tenant agreed to let them in.
Police saw Allen going through a cabinet and took him into custody soon after. Officers found the pistol that was in the video in the cabinet, according to court records.
Authorities found that the handgun was stolen out of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Allen told officers he had the gun on him and put it away when they arrived.
Allen is charged with felon possession of a weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.
