According to a news release from the Indianapolis Public Library, a grand reopening celebration for the Pike branch will be at 10 a.m. on March 29. The branch, located at 6525 Zionsville Road, will feature several upgrades, including:
Library officials said the branch will also seek LEEDv4 Silver Certification for energy and resource conservation.
“We’ve created a welcoming new space that preserves beloved elements from the original branch, like the cherished fish tank that remains a favorite among children,” Gregory Hill, the CEO of the Indianapolis Public Library, said in the release. “This branch is designed to support early childhood literacy, foster learning and belonging, and champion workforce development through digital equity and essential resources. Whether you’re an individual, nonprofit or small business, we’re here to help you thrive. I’m excited for the community to experience the space and connect with our dedicated staff.”
The release said that the project’s budget of $2,275,000 was funded by bonds approved by the Indianapolis City-County Council with no increase to the library’s current debt service tax rate.
“The Pike Township community is made richer by its cultural, ethnic and economic diversity, and our location next to Pike High School presents a wonderful opportunity to serve students and families,” said Michael Jenkins, the branch’s manager. “I’m excited to be part of this community and look forward to building relationships that foster lifelong learning and connection.”
