Man dead, woman wounded after shooting inside West Side home: CPD

CHICAGO — A man is dead and a woman wounded after a shooting inside a home on the city’s West Side.

According to police, a 60-year-old man and 39-year-old woman were found inside a residence on the 5400 block of West Ferdinand Street in the Austin neighborhood around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The man sustained gunshot wounds to the head and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The woman sustained a gunshot wound to the left thigh and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition. No other injuries were reported.

Circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation by Area Four detectives.

Police said the shooting appears to be domestic-related.
