Man caught with 14.5 pounds of cocaine during traffic stop in Lake Charles

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) — A Georgia man was found with with 14.5 pounds of cocaine after officials conducted a traffic search, authorities said.

Devon A. Hubbard, 53, Hephzibah, Georgia, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and transactions involving proceeds from drugs, officials said.

Authorities came into contact with Hubbard when they conducted a search on his SUV at a traffic stop on I-10 eastbound near mile marker 41 on Friday. Authorities searched Hubbard’s vehicle and discovered six compressed bricks of suspected powder cocaine weighing about 14.5 pounds with an estimated street value of $657,000, and over $2,400 in cash.

Hubbard was released Monday on a $175,000 bond.
