IMPD: 2 juveniles injured in drive-by shooting on Indy’s west side

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis metro police are investigating after two juveniles were shot on the city’s west side Monday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 9:24 p.m. to the 1400 block of Butternut Lane in response to a person shot run in the area.

IMPD said officers arrived on the scene and found two juvenile males suffering from gunshot wounds. They were last reported to be “awake and breathing”, according to IMPD.

IMPD Capt. Rob Rider said preliminary information indicates this was likely a drive-by shooting as detectives recovered multiple shell casings near a home in the area that suffered damage from gunfire. Rider added that multiple people were inside the home when the shots rang out but no other injuries were reported.

IMPD does not have a suspect or vehicle description at this time as detectives remain on the scene canvassing for additional evidence.
