I-465 reopens on west side after crash

INDIANAPOLIS – A crash closed part of I-465 during Tuesday morning’s commute.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, the issue affected I-465 northbound near Rockville Road and West 10th Street (mile marker 13).

Traffic was being diverted to U.S. 36. Initially, all northbound lanes were closed. Just after 6 a.m., traffic was able to get through in the right lane. Around 6:30 a.m., an additional lane reopened. All lanes reopened a few minutes later.

Indiana State Police described it as a “serious injury accident.”

According to ISP, a vehicle was disabled in the left lane of the interstate. The driver left the vehicle and was standing in the left shoulder when another vehicle struck the disabled car. The driver on the shoulder was hit in the ensuing collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
