Man fatally struck by CTA Blue Line train after falling on tracks: CPD

CHICAGO — A man was killed after being struck by a CTA train on the city’s West Side.

The fatal accident happened at the CTA Blue Line station platform on the 400 block of South Western Avenue, on the Forest Park Branch, around 9:06 p.m. Sunday.

Police said the man, believed to about 40-years-old, was walking on the train platform when he fell to the tracks and was struck by a train arriving at the station.

The Chicago Fire Department arrived on scene to treat the man who sustained trauma from the fall. He was transported to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Area Four Detectives are investigating.
