“Every two seconds someone needs blood,” said Mandi Johnson, Director of Community Engagement. “In fact, nearly 30,000 units of whole blood and red blood cells are transfused each day in the U.S. Blood donors have the power to save lives when every second counts.”
The blood drive will be held on Saturday, March 15 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at George’s Pond at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum, 3207 Pershing Blvd in Shrfeveport.
“LifeShare is excited to partner with Shreveport Mudbugs for this fun community event,” a press release stated. “Blood donors will receive a game day ticket to watch the Mudbugs take on the Odessa Jackalopes that evening at 7:11pm. As a bonus, the first 50 donors will also receive an exclusive t-shirt, a food and drink voucher, Sonic coupons, and will have the chance to share the bench with the team during warmups beginning at 6:30pm!”
Those who cannot attend the blood drive can still receive tickets to the game by giving blood between Monday, March 10 and Friday, March 14 and using the code MUDBUGS, while supplies last.
Eligible donors can begin giving blood at the age of 16 with parental approval while ages 17 and up can donate freely. Donors must meet a 110-pound weight requirement and be feeling well at the time of their donation.
