The participants, from middle school to high school, competed in events that tested their skills in the field of science.
The event is described as an academic track meet consisting of individual and team events showcasing knowledge and research in areas such as earth science, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering, and technology.
Students showed off everything from bottle rockets, to building wheeled vehicles, and even robotics and bridge construction.
Student Colby Horsman was excited to participate in this year’s event saying, “I think it’s really fun to kind of compete for, like normally sports, you compete on your physical abilities. It’s kinda nice to have the opportunity to compete on your academic abilities.”
Computech, Baird, Clark, and Alta Sierra were the middle schools who placed in the top four while Clovis North, University High, Clovis West, and Edison were the top four finishing high schools in the competition.
Teams from eight schools will be advancing to the state-level competition in April.
