The Fresno Humane Animal Services is filled with over 200 dogs.
“This is one of many of the dogs that are out here at Fresno County Animal Services. And I would just encourage your audience to come out and adopt or help to foster a beautiful dog like this,” Nathan Magsig, Fresno County Supervisor said.
Magsig said one of the reasons why the shelter is overwhelmed is due to overbreeding.
“We’re seeing a lot of people choosing to breed their dogs and then try to sell their puppies online and when they’re not successful, a lot of them just turn their animals loose out on the streets and they become a burden for the county,” Magsig said.
Shelter Manager Maria Garcia said they are doing everything they can to make room for these adorable dogs.
But she says they are running out of space.
“We only have a certain amount of kennels. So we have to constantly move dogs around and move them out of the shelter as fast as possible for the incoming dogs,” Garcia said.
Calling on the public to adopt or foster.
“It not only helps us move them out of the shelter as soon as possible, letting other dogs come in that need us, but it also lowers their stress and keeps them mentally sane because it is very stressful here for them as well,” Garcia said.
“Dogs show unconditional love. And we need more of that in the world today,” Magsig said.
