FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A woman was killed Saturday morning after coming into contact with a passenger train, Fresno police say.

Just before 10:30 a.m., officers were called to the area of Fruit and Ashlan Avenues for a report of a collision between an Amtrak train and a pedestrian.

They say they arrived to find an adult female who had been struck and suffered fatal injuries. She died at the scene.

Fresno police have taped off the area and remain at the scene until Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad police arrive to take over the investigation.

The incident involved the Amtrak San Joaquins line, and via a post on X, the company confirms there is a track closure in the area due to a “trespasser incident”.

Service Disruption: Services may experience delays due to a track closure in the Fresno (FNO) area, which is incurred from a trespasser incident, resulting in delayed train operations and service adjustments. Updates to come. #SanJoaquins
