Man dies after being shot during argument on River North sidewalk overnight, Chicago police say

CHICAGO — A man was shot multiple times during an argument in River North and later died at an area hospital overnight, according to Chicago police.

Police say the man, approximately 25 years old, was involved in an argument with an unknown male on a sidewalk in the 500 block of North Franklin Street around 3:15 a.m. Sunday. After the altercation became physical, police say, the offender pulled out a gun and shot the victim multiple times in the chest before fleeing the scene.

The victim was treated by the Chicago Fire Department before being taken to an area hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.

Police say nobody is in custody, and Area Three detectives are investigating.
