A man was arrested at the end of last month on accusations of attacking a female and making threats to deputies at a residence outside of Salesville. Forty-five-year-old Bryon Kerber was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center and released a couple of days later after posting a bond of $2,020.

According to the incident report, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office was notified by dispatch on Feb. 28 of a 911 hang-up call from County Road 63, and it sounded like someone was intoxicated in the background. A pair of deputies arrived to a male and two females standing outside the residence. One of the females stated Kerber and the other female had been arguing, and one of the deputies noticed swelling on the other female’s right arm and elbow. The victim confirmed the argument, but when the deputy asked what happened to her arm, she said she didn’t know.

A loud noise then came from the residence. The female who first made contact with the deputy went inside the residence, came back out and said Kerber had fallen and was bleeding. An ambulance crew from Baxter Health was requested, and the deputies went inside and found Kerber on the floor bleeding from his mouth, and his speech was reportedly slurred. Firefighters soon arrived, and as Kerber was being observed, he allegedly grabbed a firefighter by the leg. The deputies intervened and told Kerber they were there to help him, and he complied. Baxter Health personnel arrived on the scene, but Kerber declined medical attention.

The deputies then went into the living room to question other residence about the incident, and Kerber reportedly crawled into the room at that time and threatened to take one of the deputies’ guns and attack him. Kerber was advised at that moment he needed to lay down.

One deputy went back outside to talk to the victim, and the other remained inside to speak with another male. Kerber then stood up, walked toward the deputy and allegedly threatened to attack him if he didn’t leave. The deputy drew his taser and told Kerber he would be stunned if he didn’t back up, and he complied. The other deputy went back inside the residence, placed Kerber in hand restraints and put him in the back of a patrol unit. He was later transported to the detention center.
