SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Sunday, Utah! It’s a clear and cold start to the day with high pressure in place. This pattern will keep us dry and mild through the rest of the weekend, with mostly clear skies and warming temperatures. By Monday, highs will climb roughly 5° above normal, with some northern valleys expected to hit 60°.

The calm stretch continues through Wednesday before a major shift midweek. A strong storm system will bring mountain snow and possible valley snow between late Wednesday and Friday. Gusty southwest winds pick up Wednesday afternoon and night, with the strongest winds expected along the western counties of the state.

The next storm will bring impacts to the region starting late Wednesday night into Thursday with increased moisture potential. Snow levels will start high but drop sharply with a cold front on Thursday, bringing snow levels down to the valley floors late Thursday into Friday morning. There’s still time to hammer out the details as it gets closer. For now, it’s looking like feet of mountain snow and several inches possible in some valleys. Temperatures are expected to plummet 10-20° below normal by Friday as well. Stay tuned.
