By half, the Cavs had already built up an impressive 32-17 advantage. To open the second half, Justin Houston threw down a two-hand jam, letting everyone know Calvary would not be letting their foot off the gas.
The Tigers put up 17 points in the third quarter to attempt to come back, but it was nothing compared to the Cavs 40 points in the second half alone, allowing Calvary to put the game away easily.
“We started out with a goal, win a state championship. This just gets us one step closer to where we need to be to win it all,” head coach Vic Morris said. “My college coach used to say when March hits you want to be three things. You want to be healthy, you want to be tested, and you want to be hungry. I think we’re all three. We’re healthy, we’ve been battle tested, we’re hungry. We’re just ready to get to Lake Charles.”
Leading scorers for the Cavs were Bubba Strong with 22 points, Tyrone Jamison had 14 points, and Jaiden Hall with 11 points.
The Cavs will play Rosepine in Lake Charles for a shot at competing in the state championship game.
