Oscar-winning director Bong Joon Ho returns to the big screen five years after his last film, “Parasite.” Robert Pattinson stars as Mickey, who to flee from money sharks enrolls in an off-planet job in the not-too-distant future as an “expendable.” “Expendables” are cloned and used as lab rats undergoing all manner of pain and sickness for the betterment of society. This society is on a mission to colonize a new planet, and their leaders — played by Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette — are cluelessly trying to keep order.
Both Patrick and Richard enjoyed the film, but think that there could have been more to the story. Robert Pattinson gives a great performance and the concept is original enough that regardless of if everything works or not, it’s still worth watching.

Returning to the small screen is the Netflix-based Marvel series “Daredevil.” In “Daredevil: Born Again,” Matt Murdoch (Charlie Cox), as well as the original supporting cast, returns to this new era of Daredevil’s story. Wilson Fisk AKA “Kingpin” has become the Mayor of New York City, and it’s up to Daredevil and Lawyer Matt Murdoch to uncover the sinister secrets of his leadership and power.
The first two episodes are available on Disney +, with them airing weekly for the nine-episode season. Both Richard and Patrick are huge fans of the original and feel this lives up to that, while still being approachable for new fans of the character. While Richard believes the first two episodes may be more sluggish of a start, Patrick can attest, having seen the entire season already, that the wait and investment will be worth it by the end.

In this A24 film, a woman stumbles across the body of her uncle in the middle of the road and has to bring both her family and her uncle’s wife’s family together as they plan the funeral and divide up his belongings. As the planning is happening, the dark secrets of the uncle’s past are brought into the light, forever changing the family’s lives and impressions of him.
This is a tough but powerful watch. Patrick believes the performances are all great, and while the story doesn’t give you all the clues straight away, he loves how it’s left to interpretation.
Both Patrick and Richard agree that A24 is a studio that continues to push the envelope and that this is another example of great storytelling with a unique perspective.
