Passerby alerts authorities to Rankin County house fire

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Rankin County firefighters, EOC and deputies responded to a house fire.

According to Investigator Tyler Burnell, with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, a passerby called the sheriff’s office about the fire around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 6.

Emergency crews responded to the fire in the 2400 block of Star Road. Burnell said all residents have been accounted for, and a damage assessment is underway.

Star Road was closed in the area was closed but has since reopened.
