The town hall was filled with people listening and asking questions about the school board’s proposal to consolidate five campuses into four.
The district said Natchitoches Junior High-Frankie Ray Jackson desperately needs infrastructure repairs. The building is 68 years old, and large portions have been vacant for several years.
Also on the agenda is a consideration to close Goldonna Elementary/Junior High School with students attending the newly zoned area of Fairview or Lakeview.
A final decision will made at the end of March.
Thursday’s meeting allowed the community to learn about the proposal and address concerns during the public meeting, which started at 5 p.m. and lasted several hours.
