Abilene man sentenced to 7 years in prison for child sex crime

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – An Abilene man has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for a child sex crime.

James Westfall received his 7 year sentence Thursday after pleading guilty to one count of Indecency with a Child. 9 other child sex crime charges were waived as part of Westfall’s plea.

Court documents state a child came forward in May 2024 and reported he had been sexually abused by Westfall from September to October of 2023.

During an interview with detectives, the documents state the victim described multiple instances of sexual assault.

Westfall was initially arrested in July and has remained in the Taylor County Jail ever since on a $70,000 bond.
