Three suspects arrested for death of 3-year-old in Bienville Parish

BIENVILLE, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Authorities said three people have been arrested in connection to the death of a three-year-old child in Bienville Parish.

According to Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office, on February 13, investigators responded to the local medical center regarding a resident who arrived at the emergency room with a deceased child.

Following an autopsy, investigators began to look further into suspected physical abuse of the deceased child as well as a fourteen-year-old child who resided in the same household.

Investigators obtained sufficient evidence to obtain arrest warrants for the following individuals and their charges:
  • Kewanna Monique Lard, 44, charged with cruelty to juveniles, second-degree cruelty to juveniles, obstruction of justice;
  • Dewanequa Monique Nykeria Lard, 23, cruelty to juveniles, second-degree cruelty to juveniles, obstruction of justice;
  • Szysznyk DeWayne Phillips, 48, cruelty to juveniles.

All three have been booked into the Bienville Parish Jail with bond set at $100,000 on each count.

BPSO investigators state that the victims and suspects lived in the same residence on Lard Street in Lucky – a village in Bienville Parish.

Police state that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending. Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, no further details will be given at this time.
