The New Orleans Police Department announced on Thursday, March 6 that Elks Krewe of Orleanians truck parade and the Krewe of Crescent City along with Krewe of Barkus will now roll on Sunday, March 9.
Elks Krewe of Orleanians will start to roll at 9 a.m. with the Krewe of Crescent City following behind. The abbreviated route starts at Tchoupitoulas Street and Napoleon Avenue, then north on Napoleon Avenue to Saint Charles Avenue, continues east on Saint Charles Avenue to Louisiana Avenue, then turns north onto Louisiana Avenue before disbanding at the corner of Toledano Street and South Claiborne Avenue.
“The NOPD is mandating that, for sanitation purposes, members riding in these krewes do not throw any beads prior to the start of the route at Tchoupitoulas Street nor at the end of the route at the intersection of Toledano Street and South Claiborne Avenue,” said officers.
The Krewe of Barkus will parade through the French Quarter starting at 2 p.m.
The routes will be staffed appropriately, according NOPD officers.
