MC Quorum court meeting canceled after millage ordinance review

A special meeting of the Marion County Quorum Court scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled after officials determined that a correction to the county’s millage ordinance could be made without court intervention.

Justice of the Peace John Reed informed County Judge Jason Stumph that, according to Arkansas Code § 14-14-904 (2024), errors in the millage levy can be corrected through an administrative process. The law states that if a quorum court’s tax levy contains clerical or reporting errors, the county court can direct the county clerk to make the necessary adjustments.
