Since Cooper’s AFJROTC hosted the meet, they were not allowed to participate in any events, but they did help run the competition.
One of Cooper’s Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp Instructors, Ron Deos, will retire at the end of this 2024-2025 school year after 21 years of leading the Cooper unit. Deos is proud to have organized an event to support students and their goals.
“Well, first, we wanted them to have fun. That’s why we do it. This is for their enjoyment, some spirit. We like to see them work and push themselves a little bit outside of their comfort zone,” Green said.
Students participated in events such as armed and unarmed regulation drills and an obstacle course on the indoor football field.
