Two wounded in separate shootings around New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating two separate shootings throughout the city that left two people hospitalized on Wednesday, March 5.

According to officers, the first shooting happened around 1:45 a.m. in the 800 block of Canal Street.

An investigation revealed the suspect and victim were reportedly involved in a fight when the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun, shot the victim and ran away.

The male victim was taken to hospital for treatment. An arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect.

The second shooting was reported in the Lower Garden District at the corner of St. Andrew and Magazine streets.

Around 2:04 a.m., NOPD officers responded to the scene to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

An update on either victim’s condition was not given.

The investigations remain ongoing. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine possible suspects and motives.
