On April 1, 2025, WGNO will reveal who has been named “New Orleans’ Most Remarkable Woman 2025”.
Until then, WGNO wanted to check back in with our 2024 Most Remarkable Woman, Dawn Bradley-Fletcher.
“Dawn, tell us what’s new, what’s been going on this last year?” That’s the question WGNO’s Amy Russo asked Bradley-Fletcher when checking back in.
“We are in a new facility,” explained Bradley-Fletcher. She’s the CEO of the New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter. Last year, the shelter was located in a smaller unit. This year, the shelter has been moved to a larger location. “We had to expand to meet the demands of the community. We are in this fight to end homelessness, and we are going to make sure we continue the fight.”
That’s the passion and drive Bradley-Fletcher exudes every day.
“Being selected as the Remarkable Woman for 2024 of the New Orleans region is an honor and a responsibility,” said Bradley-Fletcher. “It’s about using the platform to make a difference, create opportunities and inspire others. This has been such a great experience and has strengthened my commitment to serve.”
As someone who works each day to do good work in the community, WGNO and our parent company, Nexstar, wanted to show some of that same love to Bradley-Fletcher.
Aside from accepting a $1,000 check that went toward operations at the shelter, Bradley-Fletcher also received a trip of a lifetime to Los Angeles.
“There were lots of surprises, everything was VIP, top notch,” said Bradley-Fletcher. ” I did get to meet Jennifer Hudson. We went on her show, it was livestreamed. So, that was fun!”
Showered with activities, exploring Los Angeles and meeting over 100 other Remarkable Women. Their sisterhood remains strong to this day.
“We actually have monthly meetings, we meet by Zoom,” said Bradley-Fletcher. “It really feels good to have met a network of women who are likeminded and do so many positive things in their community and we stay in touch.”
New Orleans’ Most Remarkable Woman is a title Bradley-Fletcher will always hold close to her heart.
She has this message for the 2025 winner: “I hope the next Remarkable Woman embraces the opportunity, inspires others and continues to lead and continues to make a difference.”
