Plan ahead: Highway 99W to close through Sherwood this weekend
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Highway 99W through Sherwood is set to close Friday as crews work to install a new pedestrian bridge.

According to the City of Sherwood, from Friday till Monday, crews will be installing the new Sherwood Pedestrian Bridge over Highway 99 near Sunset Boulevard and Elwert Road.

The 900-foot bridge will help pedestrians and bicyclists safely travel between Sherwood High School and the Sherwood YMCA, the city said.

Ahead of the closure, officials are advising drivers to plan ahead and avoid the area, flaggers will be working 24 hours a day to detour drivers around the area.

The highway is expected to reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, March 10.
