The Plainfield Police Department announced on social media around 4:30 p.m. that officers had closed off the area surrounding the 200 block of N. Center Street as they searched for a reportedly armed suspect. The man was reportedly carrying a suitcase.
Around 6:30 p.m., PPD posted a “narcotics arrest” update stating that the suspect has been located and taken into custody.
While the area was shut down, police quartered off a section of street and asked the public to avoid the area. They also asked drivers to find alternate routes. As of 6 p.m., no officers were still in the area.
