Man gets 7-year sentence for fatal Christmas Day hit-and-run incident

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for killing a Rockford woman in a hit-and-run on Christmas Day 2022.

According to the Winnebago County Sheriff, officers found Lisa Judson, 48, lying dead in the roadway in the 3200 block of Gilbert Avenue around 6:00 a..m.

Gerwarn Porter, Jr. was arrested for the crime.

On Wednesday, March 5th, he entered a negotiated plea to the charge of Failure to Report a Crash involving Death and was sentenced to 7 years, with an additional year of parole.
